STYGIAN SHORE began performing professionally across the great plains in 1982 with Mike Palmer on lead guitar and vocals (age 15), Greg Marshall on bass guitar and vocals (age 17) and Peter Dawson on drums and vocals (age 17). Sharing a dream to make their mark in the world by creating their own path in life, the three aspiring young musicians began working together to create a unique sound. The band rehearsed every day for hours writing and perfecting their music until they were discovered by Mark (The Shark) Shelton after performing at their high school. Through the guidance of The Shark, the band very quickly began to perform professionally at all the hot spots in the area and recorded their first studio project in 1983. The band was very well received on the metal scene in the early 80’s rapidly rising to the top of the underground circuit with their sound and their energetic stage show. The STYGIAN SHORE EP was released in the spring of 1984 on Roadster Records and received rave reviews from all the contemporaries at the time including Hit Parader magazine where they were cited as being the new “Metal Supergroup!” A U.S. mini tour was scheduled in promotion of the release of the project with much public anticipation and the band was ready to reach for the sky in pursuit of their dream. In the spring of 1984 prior to the release of the STYGIAN SHORE EP, Greg Marshall was involved in a tragic train accident where he lost his right hand. Mike and Pete cancelled all of the bands engagements in favor of sticking together with their friend. STYGIAN SHORE continued to pursue their dream as a team with now Greg “Hook” Marshall relentlessly practicing on his bass guitar learning to pick with his new hook until they could perform again as a group. STYGIAN SHORE reconvened in the studio in 1989 and recorded these tracks that were never released, UNTIL NOW! The Shore Will Arise, so look out, here comes the Tidal Wave! |
