“Hobbs’ Satan’s Crusade” may not be an original full-length album, but it still is an essential for both collectors and fans of Aussie thrash: “Hobbs’ Satan’s Crusade” was the first release by Peter Hobb’s legendary trash brigade “Hobbs’ Angel of Death” after the comeback in 2003.

Having initially been fed on a tasteful diet of Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Kiss and the likes, Peter Hobbs’ later ventured into darker territory: In the glorious days of the 80’s, the mighty SLAYER and the Big Three of Teutonic Thrash, Destruction, Sodom and Kreator, played the biggest part in inspiring Peter Hobbs to create his very own take on fast, dark and original Trash metal which had never been heard of before in Australia – a style of Thrash that would rightly be called “virgin metal” later on.

“Hobbs’ Satan’s Crusade” contains the band's classic demos "Hobbs’ Angel Of Death" (1987) and "Virgin Metal Invasion From Down Under" (1988). Of the eleven tracks, eight made it onto the celebrated self-titled debut album from 1988, whereas “Liar”, “Chainsaw Massacre”, and “Satanic Overture” were first released on the original CD version of this compilation, which came out on Modern Invasion Music in 2003.

Both demos combined here on “Hobbs’ Satan’s Crusade” were recorded at Doug Saunders Studio In Melbourne, Australia. The first of these two secured Hobbs’ Angel of Death their record deal with Steamhammer. The stunning cover artwork was contributed by none other than Sadistik Exekution’s Reverend Kriss Hades. For the High Roller edition, “Hobbs’ Satan’s Crusade” has been mastered by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony.
