S.D.I. - do you know what band these letters stand for? Correct: Satan’s Defloration Incorporated! Their eponymous debut album was first released in 1986; but this is not the usual run-of-the-mill Speed/Thrash you would expect to come from Germany. Hailing from Osnabrück, Lower Saxony, S.D.I. were quite isolated from the famous hot spots of the German scene and developed their very own take on Speed/Thrash Metal right from the start. “Satan's Defloration Incorporated” was recorded at the 'Spygel' Studio in Kirchheim/Teck in June 1986, with Tom Krüger as sound-engineer. He managed to capture S.D.I.'s “I don't give a fuck”-attitude perfectly. “Satan's Defloration Incorporated” is fast, aggressive and well thought-out, but with a lot of funny interludes and tongue-in-cheek-tracks like “I wanna fuck you”, it is clear that S.D.I. never took themselves too seriously; Reinhard (voc/bass) confirms: “We still don’t do that today and we surely didn’t do it back then.” S.D.I. absolutely qualify as an insider’s tip; now if you want to qualify as an insider, get this unique, unusual piece of German Speed/Thrash Metal history. The High Roller re-release on vinyl offers a lot of things to look forward to: The original sound of “Satan's Defloration Incorporated” has been restored and the album will contain an insert with old, so far unpublished pictures from the band archives. And the last words belong to Reinhard: “'Satan’s Defloration Incorporated' is pure raw Speed Metal without any concessions to nobody. Special, unique and with a different type of humour. Freshly mastered, with a lot of SDI-Classics we play at every live show like 'Panic in Wehrmacht', 'Absolute Banger', 'I don’t care', 'You’re wrong' and of course 'I wanna fuck you'.” |
