High Roller Records are proud to announce the 10th anniversary reissue of Frank Blackfire’s debut solo full-length “Back on Fire”. Fully remastered and graced by a new artwork, the album is now also available on vinyl for the first time ever.

To call Frank Blackfire a living legend is no exaggeration. Known for his work with early Sodom and Kreator as well as a short stint in Assassin, his groundbreaking guitar playing played a significant role in shaping the sound of German thrash metal as a globally cherished phenomenon. Marrying brute metallic force with musicality, Frank has always been a creative nomad, ever-evolving and searching for new impulses. Without any band obligations, he moved from Germany to Brazil by the turn of the century, founding Mystic with local musicians and recording two demos that laid the foundations for a full-length which turned out to be a long time coming.

“It was a lot of hard work before we could release it,” Blackfire says, looking back now while – yes, indeed – working on a successor to “Back on Fire”, which boasted a line-up featuring him on guitar and vocals, bass player/singer John A.B.C. Smith (God’s Army, Gallows Pole, At Vance, Scanner) and drummer Toni Merkel (Sodom, Sabiendas). And although Frank had been out of Sodom for more than 25 years back then, he recruited the band’s iconic leader Tom Angelripper as a guest vocalist on ‘Insane Human Race’, laying the foundation for their reunion in 2018.

“Today, you could do some things better, but for the very small budget we had, we got the best out of it,” comments Blackfire on the ten tracks – including a thrashified rendition of Henry Mancini’s ‘Peter Gunn’ theme as an intro – which are characterized by Frank’s signature guitar style and rasp. With a plethora of killer riffs in standout tunes such as ‘Victims of Society’, ‘Warmonger’ and ‘Valley of Suiciders’, “Back on Fire” remains a timeless yet forgotten thrash gem worth (re-)discovering.
